Our Background

How We Got Here

Locally Shelves was born from a military wife that moves to The Rio Grande Valley of Texas on Christmas Day of 2020.  Before moving to Texas, she was located in Fort Bragg, North Carolina with her family where she met different cultures, smalls businesses and crafters communities.  Naturally from Puerto Rico, Jailene is always looking to that extra thing to do while she manages all the adventures that the military life offers her.

Jailene has always enjoyed arts, music, crafts and creativity.  She is always learning a new craft and creating items to sell as a Vendor and supporting other small businesses by shopping locally. She likes to be busy, with her hands full and her mind in creativity mood at all times.  Once she started working as a Probation Officer in Fayetteville, NC, she paused her passion of creating and sell to enjoy her career and family.

After moving and setting up with her family in the Texas Valley she decided to return to her small business of polymer clay jewelry, after lacking open positions to continue her career, that's when she noticed the big community of crafters and small businesses brands around RGV and started to make notes on how she can turn her dream of a storefront come true and help others to do the same.  As a vendor and crafter, she decided to combine her two passions in one, and here it is, that's how Locally Shelves started. She envisioned a store full of local brands with a craft room where she can share her creativity with others. Let's be real, she is not an artist painting beautiful pieces in canvas lol, but she definitely is a crafter!

Locally Shelves offers crafts activities that you can enjoy in a party, as a walk in, with family, friends or strangers. Is a space designed for all ages. Yes! kids are welcome to craft too, as we have activities for kids starting at 3 years old. You can bring your drinks, snacks, pizza, beer, wine or whatever to fill your stomach while crafting, creating, having fun and shopping from local vendors.
